Join Meyer Natural Foods as a Director of Cattle Operations in Colorado.Overview of the Cattle Buyer Position: This is a hands-on, full-time role that involves day-to-day duties, including setting and achieving the company’s goals and objectives, supervising cattle department employees, overseeing daily activities, and developing strategies to attract and approve new producers and feedlot contract prices. The Sr. Director of Cattle Operations supports and executes all decisions made by the company that drive overall profitability for Meyer Natural Foods (MNF).
What will you do?
- Function as the primary leader for the cattle department when communicating with team members and vendors; provides strategy for the latest programs and expert industry knowledge for all cattle operations.
- Direct cattle reps to procure cattle in a way that accurately matches demand and budget costs.
- Support the sales team by assisting and educating customers on the cattle procurement process.
- Regularly interacts with and responds to external regulatory agency staff needs as they affect MNF.
- Oversees all compliance protocols within each brand.
- Controls input cost for cattle, freight, travel, and other applicable expenses.
- Develop and oversee strategies to introduce new producers to the Meyer program.
- Prepare and oversee new contracts to accommodate competitive packers.
- Develops annual budget for cattle cost and premiums.
- Review cattle department employees for performance and salary increases.
- Reviews and analyzes data to direct Cattle Reps to maintain consistent and high-quality cattle.
- Recommends protocol changes to upper management.
- Actively seek other ways to improve and strengthen the company’s position in the marketplace.
- Responsible for financial reporting, hedging, and cost containment.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree in production agriculture or a related field, or a combination of education and experience, is required.
- 10+ years of cattle procurement and agriculture experience is required.
Compensation: $166,459 to $218,794 (depending on experience)

- Expert understanding and working knowledge of both cattle procurement and the cattle feeding industry.
- Ability to build trust and collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, internal clients, vendors, and producers.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrates an enterprise-wide view of the procurement process, including a strong understanding of GAP and industry compliance.
- Excellent understanding of financial statements and how cattle cost impacts P&L.
- Competent PC skills.
- Must have a clean driving record, maintain current vehicle insurance, and meet insurability guidelines for drivability.
- Role is located in Loveland, Colorado with travel through out the United States, as needed for the role.
